A Reading Respite

After being busy for such a long time it is really nice to have finally had a week where I had some free time. I have actually had the time to start reading on two different books. Ever since Aug the only book I've been getting read has been the Bible. Well, I feel like God has given me some respite this week, and so I have taken the opportunity to see if I can learn something.

Oddly engouh, both books I am reading are not on this list. One is a Rich Dad Poor Dad book on being a Salesman. It is pretty good. I'm not sure if its as good as his others, but I'm definitely learning a few things in there. The other one is the Visual Quickstart guide to HTML... you can see all my editing on the My Story page. If you want to learn HTML, I have been told by the webmaster of PCApplianceRepair.com that it is really good. Check out his site... I'd like to be able to build a site like that some day... ah but I digress...

Anyway, it has been nice to get some reading done. I'm really hoping to become smart. That is my problem with college. Its not that I don't like to learn. In fact, I love to learn. However, it so often seems that I spend an inornate amount of time learning things that do not matter. I then don't have the time to read the things I really feel like I need to learn. That's what I love about summer and Christmas. The time to read the books that really seem to teach me things.

Elk Hunting

Well, I just got back from a wonderful Elk Hunt in the great State of New Mexico... a little place I like to referr to as God's country! I think that is where He vacations when He wants a little time off...

Anyway, it was great. My brother and I were the trigger pullers, and then my dad joined us for the fun of it. The guides, Matt and Tony Lee, were really great. They knew right where the elk were going to be, and Matt even sneaked Lee and I with in about 50-75 yards of the elk I shot. It was great. The only thing better would have been to be shooting a bull instead of a cow, but beggars can't be choosers. Anyway, I have a freezer full of elk meat now.

I got to try out some hunting gear and do some shooting in the great outdoors.

RangerOptics.com

The store we are going to be looking my Leupold Scopes site at RangerOptics.com. We have currently been up on the web since May and have almost... I say again ALMOST broken even now. I'll be ready for the day, and truth be told we would have already done so if we hadn't have made several mistakes. However, each mistake is a lesson learned, and a mistake not to be repeated.

First question? What is the best place to host a web site? My vote is for Yahoo! Merchant Solutions if you aren't experienced on the web. If you are a computer Guru then I'm sure there are better places... like having your own server. However, if you're like me and only have limited knowledge... then go with a Yahoo! Store and you can get more experience as you go. This is the E-book, Yahoo Store Profits! , I bought that told me how to build Yahoo Store! There isn't any way I'd have ever gotten it done on my own.

PPC - a great way to find out if your idea will work or not. Before you invest all the time into getting it ranked on the search engine you can validate your idea with Pay Per Click search engines such as Google Adwords and Overture. The link follow the link on your left to open your own E-commerce store and look at the Google Stomper.
